Josie’s Cat

Josie’s Cat, originally uploaded by spakulsk.

Did I tell you that art ran in the family? My little sister Ashley is very creative as a photographer, a printmaker and now through sewing projects too. Here we received this awesome gift tonight from my incredably gifted sister. This is a cat she made for Josie. Wow! It is amazing!

We’re giving it all that it’s got..

Aye Captian… We’re giving it all that it’s got but I don’t think 2011 will last much longer…

Ice!

Ice!, originally uploaded by spakulsk.

Ice crystals on the pier in Luna Pier, MI today. Lake Erie was a little choppy and the waves crashing against the pier froze quickly here…

December Sunset

December Sunset, originally uploaded by spakulsk.

Another image shot from my Rolleicord V and Kodak Portra film. A sunset image from earlier this month. I like the golden reflection on the water from this shot…

Henry Moore

Henry Moore, originally uploaded by spakulsk.

Okay. Here is another shot from my Rolleicord V and Kodak Portra film. However, this shot was underexposed and fixed in Photoshop Lightroom (sort of). However, I like how the Henry Moore scupture is highlighted in this image…

DIA Great Hall

DIA Great Hall, originally uploaded by spakulsk.

Who says digital is better than film? Here is an incredible image of the Detroit Institute of Art’s Great Hall shot with a fifty+ year old Rolleicord V and Kodak Portra film. This image is absolutely HUGE! When I first uploaded to flickr, Lightroom gave me an error stating the image was too big for upload (maxes out the maximum permissible file size) – so I had to degrade this image to 85% and still the detail is here! Amazing, a fifty year old medium format camera can blow away today’s top of the line full frame DLSRs! That just shows you… FILM IS NOT DEAD!

DIA Islamic Galleries

A shot of the Detroit Institute of Arts’ Islamic Galleries. Shot with my Rolleicord V TLR and Kodak Portra 120 film…

I absolutely LOVE MY ROLLEICORD!

My best shot 2010

Peep Reflection, originally uploaded by spakulsk.

Peep Reflection, probably my best from 2010. I set the Peeps on a mirror and had a black background and had flashlights illuminating the Peeps from both sides. Quite a setup! One more images from the past…

My best shot 2009

Bee_Alpena, originally uploaded by spakulsk.

I thought to include this shot of a bumble bee on an echinacea. Looking back at some of my old photos before starting afresh in 2012…

Sunbeam

I had fun with this image. Initially shot with the Instagram app and then sent to the picfx app and then back to Instagram. I like how this highlights the sunbeam that I noticed earlier this afternoon…

December Sunset

December Sunset, originally uploaded by spakulsk.

Tonight’s sunset shot with the Istagram app on my iPhone. I also took two shots of this sunset (one at f3.5 at 1/500 sec and one at f8 at 1/125 sec) tonight with my Rolleicord V. We will have to wait until those are developed…
